Trinity travelled to Weybridge Vandals with a young exciting squad with an average age of 23. Weybridge started well with the opening spell of the game being played in the Trinity half however the Trinity defence superbly marshalled by the ever-reliable Archie McMillan held strong.

However 6 minutes into the game Weybridge finally broke the line when one of their players took the ball at pace from a short pass of the back of a ruck to bulldoze over the line for a try which was converted to give them a 7-0 lead.

The Trinity scrum, with an average age in the front row of just 20, were competing well and had the upper hand on a much bigger experience pack. This gave the backs a great platform and after 15 minutes Trinity were back on level terms with a maiden try for Callum True following a well-executed backs move. George Kimmins added the bonus two points from out wide despite slipping over as he made connection with the ball.

With knocks to Farooq Agbalaya and Quinn Singh Trinity brought on two 18 year old subs in Ozy Edwards and Joseph Mamode who was making his first team debut. The reshuffle saw Ty Williams move into the pack where he looked instantly at home.

Trinity were on the front foot and a trademark break from Josh Joubert dancing his way through the Weybridge defence took Trinity to the edge of the Weybridge 21. Weybridge however managed to turn the ball over and a long floated pass got the ball out wide to their winger who sprinted down the line for a unchallenged score.

Trinity were soon back on the attack and as the half came to a close they were camped on the Weybridge line. As Trinity launched attack after attack Weybridge were reduced to 14 men. Trinity continued to push for the try rather than take the point from a kick however they were unable to break through a well organised defence and the half ended 14-7 to Weybridge

Trinity continued to push in the second half and were soon back on the score board again with Kimmins adding a penalty after just two minutes of the half. Ten minutes later Kimmins was repeating the feat with another three points being added to reduce the deficit to a solitary point at 14-13.

The game was now anyone’s for the taking however with five minutes to go it was Weybridge who got the vital break through scoring from a driving maul. However with the conversion missed Trinity still felt they were in the game and were throwing everything at Weybridge. Unfortunately, Weybridge pounced on a wide pass to intercept the ball and breakaway to grab a bonus point fourth try. With only two minutes left on the clock Trinity ran out time to get back in the game.

There were plenty of positives from this young side in the game and with a different bounce of the ball the result could have easily gone the other way.
