AT LAST! RUGBY IS BACK!!!
After what feels like the longest ever pre-season it is great to finally have grass roots rugby back!
A lot of work has been done by our coaches, Andy and George, over the off-season in terms of recruitment and with so many new young players involved in training it will be exciting to see them all in action on a match day!
The club are having a “behind closed doors” internal training game this Saturday (12 December) before welcoming local rivals Old Whits up to LMA the following week (Saturday 19 December) for a “friendly” fixture. (Details and guidelines for supporters will be published next week).
This is all building towards a revised league structure that will commence on the 16th January for both the 1st XV and AXV. There will be no promotions or relegations and fixture will be as local as possible to keep unnecessary travel to a minimum. Once we have details of these games they will be advertised on the club website and various social media platforms.
The rugby won’t quite be the same as what we have all become accustomed to as under the return to rugby regulations that were agreed by the government and the RFU there will be no scrums or mauls. This will probably take some getting use to but it does sound like the games will be fast paced and free flowing.
On that subject our vets team are set to return to action on Thursday 28th January with a fixture against Warlingham, details of the game will be sent out nearer the time.
At the other end of the scale the Titans are back training on Sunday morning as are the RugbyTots. Numbers are continuing to grow on a weekly basis as all age group which is great for the future of the club.
With things looking a lot more active on the pitch we are now looking forward to the return of some club activity off of the pitch and Jez is promising something spectacular for when the Midwives are able to have a long overdue get together.
There is a real buzz back up the club and we really don’t want to lose this so we ask you all to continue to follow the strict guidelines that are currently in place. The TSSSC association along with our Chairman of Playing, Laurence Oliver, have put in a lot of time and money to ensure we comply with regulations, don’t be that idiot who ruins it for everyone else!
Cheers
