FAROOQ ABGALAYA WINS PLAYER OF THE SEASON AWARD
June 15, 2024
GRAHAM CROUCH has published details of the TRINITY RFC EUROS SWEEPSTAKE.
Trinity RFC Euros Sweepstake 2024
Our latest sweepstake will be carried out on lines similar to the successful ones that we have run for both rugby and football in the past. This will be a fundraising event for the rugby club , with 40% of the money taken going to the rugby club; but with 60% going in prizes.
The structure is more complicated than a simple winner takes all sweepstake and the main aims are threefold: to avoid too many shared prizes; to avoid having one unique winning ticket which may remain unsold; and to try to keep most tickets in play until the very late stages of the tournament.
You should find all you need to know (and some things you don’t) below. Feel free to go straight to the business end at the bottom.
Competition Structure
Teams are allocated to one of six pools – each with four teams
Pool Stage
| Pool A | Germany | Scotland | Hungary | Switzerland |
| Pool B | Spain | Croatia | Italy | Albania |
| Pool C | Slovenia | Denmark | Serbia | England |
| Pool D | Poland | Netherlands | Austria | France |
| Pool E | Belgium | Slovakia | Romania | Ukraine |
| Pool F | Turkey | Georgia | Portugal | Czech Republic |
Knock Out Rounds
The first two in each pool and the 4 best third place teams go through to the last 16. From then on each game is a knockout until two finalists remain.
Sweepstake
- 1290 unique tickets.
- Each ticket contains four teams – one from each pool and each ticket will have a chance of winning.
- Teams will earn points on the basis of their success in the competition. The points for the teams on each ticket will totalled to give the ‘ticket score’.
- The ticket with the highest score will win the sweepstake.
- Most tickets will still be ‘live’ till the later stages.
- 1st place will win 30% of the stake money. 2nd place will win 20% of the stake money. 3rd place will win 10% of the stake money. 40% of the stake money will go to club funds
Scoring
16 teams go through to the second round: 8 go home. Each side knocked out will be ranked according to the number of points earned in their pool. Any ties for a place will be decided on a) games won; b) then goals scored; and then c) goal difference.
8 sweepstake points will go to the top team in this list down to 1 point for the bottom team in the list.
All sides qualifying for the last 16 will score at least 12 sweepstake points.
All sides qualifying for the quarter finals will score at least 16 sweepstake points.
All sides qualifying for the semi finals will score at least 20 sweepstake points.
3rd place will score 25 points.
2nd place will score 30 points.
The Euro champions will score 40 points.
