TRINITY RFC ANNOUNCES NEW CLUB PRESIDENT
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Simon McInnes as President of the Club.
Simon – affectionately known as “Kerrang” – joined the Mids in early 1984, shortly before leaving Trinity School that summer. His first appearance came for the Extra B’s away at Old Alleynians in a side that managed to field only 13 players, 12 of whom were forwards.
Over the years, Simon has been an occasional (‘never full-time’) captain of a variety of lower XVs and has achieved the rare distinction of starting a match for both School and Club in every position on the field except scrum-half. His playing career also included appearances in the now legendary 0–0 draws at Old Wimbledonians and Basingstoke (along with two further scoreless encounters during his school days), before he finally retired from playing in 2008 following an incredibly minor foot injury.
Away from the pitch, Simon has given outstanding service to the Club. He chaired the Club Dinner in 2013 and has served with distinction as Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer, and Vice President.
His enduring love of heavy metal music earned him the nickname “Kerrang”, after the famous magazine, he is also a keen fan of The Turf. And Arsenal.
Favourite band: Tool
Favourite racecourse: Plumpton
Simon’s longstanding commitment, good humour and unwavering support for the Club make him an excellent choice as President, and we are delighted to welcome him into the role.
Congratulations, Kerrang.
