TRINITY 26-19 EASTBOURNE
October 9, 2023
TEDDINGTON 67-3 TRINITY
The First XV travelled to Teddington missing a number of key players and faced not only in the game but also getting to their ground as the train strike seemed to triple the amount of traffic on the road!
Teddington who are unbeaten for over a year showed why with some fast free flowing rugby as soon had their noses in front! Trinity did get an early response from the boot of Jack Greenwood but sadly they were to be the only points Trinity put on the board during the game.
From this point everything seemed to go Teddington’s way including the bounce of the ball as they scored a number of well worked team tries resulting in a 67-3 win! Which in terms of World Cup results is actually not that bad!
Both teams received yellow cards at one stage of the game. Olly Hubbard having a 10 minute rest for Trinity for not being 10 (centimetres) from a penalty when tacking their man. The Teddington card was for back chat following a high tackle by the same player.
Despite the score line there were some positives for Trinity this included club debuts for second rows Louis Quarendon and Toby Plant. There was also a second man of the match performance in a row from Tribe Man if the Match Aidan Sisk in only his second ever game of adult rugby!
It was also a final game for the foreseeable future for Charlie Geary Merrett who has been with the club as a junior from an early age. We wish him the best as he goes off to join the army, he will be missed both on and off the pitch as well behind the bar at Lime Meadow Avenue.
With players expected back from injury and various road trips Trinity will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Eastbourne at home this coming Saturday.
