Match report by Neil Walker
OLD EMANUEL 7-82 TRINITY
It was 3 o’clock on a mild overcast Saturday afternoon when the valiant 15 of Trinity RFC lined up against the Old Emanuels at their new premises. It was 2 minutes after 3 o’clock when Ben Vailant scored the first of his 5 tries after dodging, darting runs ably assisted by Ollie Hubbard.
At regular intervals after this Ollie Hubbard, Spedo Spedding, Jammers Jenkins, Ben Vailant again, Captain Ali and Ben for the third time all crossed the line with the extras provided by a metronomic Dan Crouch who with a 92% pass rate only narrowly missed one of his more difficult 12 attempts.
The second half saw all subs deployed and Ben Vaiiant crossing the line another 2 times in the first 5 minutes. Emanuel never gave up and there followed a brief period where individual exuberance took over from controlled team play eventually allowing Emanuel to put some sustained pressure on the Mids defence and letting their rambunctious forwards barrel over the line for their consolation score. Once normal order had resumed in the Trinity ranks Bacon, Spedo again and finally Tom Black, on the bell, all went over to seal a well deserved bonus point win.
