Congratulations to Jack Greenwood who has been named captain of Trinity RFC’s Second XV.

The side is traditionally, formerly and formally known as the A XV, but also goes by the tag of As, Twos and Seconds. The RFU call us Trinity 2nd XV!

Speaking to Julian Chenery and Chris Grierson this week, Jack said he was delighted and honoured to be named skipper for the season and paid tribute to the work of his predecessor Tom Caplin.

He said ‘This season’s success will be down to the regular availability of players such as Player Coach George Daniels, Mark Macaskill and other senior regulars alongside the newer, younger (faster!) recruits who have joined the club for this season.’

‘I’m buzzing to take the reins this year and help push the A XV to be the very best we can and to really bolster and strengthen our First XV! The aim is to put out a competitive side each week, but above all to enjoy our rugby.’

Enthusing – as ever – about the pre-season session led by Guest Coach Mike Friday, Greeners added ‘There is genuinely a brilliant buzz at the club at the moment and I’ve missed it, let’s all keep this momentum up and keep getting better every week!’

He then went to sing in the showers with a lager and lime!
