George Kimmins who has been teaching and coaching at Trinity School for the past four years has joined the club as Attack & Backs Coach.

Here is a full biog of his rugby career. Welcome to the club, George.

I grew up in Somerset playing rugby at my community club, Weston Super Mare. Weston is a great club, and when I broke into the 1st XV aged 17 they were playing in national league 3 against sides like Chinnor, Rams and Taunton, which was a pretty humbling experience to say the least! But I loved playing for my home club and it was a real baptism of fire of what senior rugby is like. I then went down to Exeter University where I spent 4 amazing years playing in what was as close to a professional environment you imagine. I learned so much at Exeter in how the game is played, and was lucky enough to play with some incredible players who are still playing professionally and in the international game now. It was at Exeter that my interest in coaching really spiked and I helped coach the freshers teams alongside the Chiefs lads as well as doing some bits at Sandy Park. In my 4th year I did my PGCE and got a job up in London.

When I moved to London, started playing for London Cornish. In my first year at Cornish we went unbeaten and got promoted to London 1 south. The team we had was unbelievable and could have competed in a couple of leagues above on our day. Since then, I then captained the side for 4 years and coached for a couple of years too. It is a brilliant club and I have some top mates down there, which is why it was such a hard decision to accept a new challenge.

I have now worked at Trinity for 4 years and coach the U16s. The talent pool at the school is amazing and we punch well above our weight on the school circuit with what we have. I have the privilege of learning from Paul Roberts and Ian Kench (before he moved on), who I believe are the best school boy rugby coaches in the country, and they are central to the schools recent successes. This season we got to the final of Rosslyn Park with the U16s, and it is by far my proudest moment as a coach. The Trinity boys were incredible and showed what was possible when you are willing to fight for absolutely everything for your mate next to you.

I can’t wait to get started with Trinity RFC. If we can get some of the school boys coming together to play with each other at their old boys club, we will have some seriously talented players coming down. It would also be class for P-Rob and I to play a few games together with some recent alumni, so hopefully we can keep building a strong connection with the school to make it all happen. I know there are already some outstanding players at the club anyway, so either way, the future is very bright!
