PRE-SEASON CONTINUES AT LMA

A huge turnout of forty players and coaches at Lime Meadow Avenue this week as Trinity RFC’s pre-season continues.

A pre-session players’ meeting hosted by Director of Rugby Andy Edwards, Head Coach Matt Higgins and Attack Coach George Kimmins outlined the aims for the season (and the next three years) as the club looks to build on its success at staying in the Counties 1 Surrey/Sussex league last season.

The players were then treated to a high-intensity session with Guest Coach Mike Friday, returning from his ten-year stint with the USA Sevens squad. Head Coach Matt Higgins felt that such a ‘positive and energetic’ session was as much down to the ‘enthusaism and commitment’ of the playing squad as it was to having Mike on the field. ‘The bar has been set high and the challenge is to now maintain those standards and build from here.’

As one player summed it up, ‘What a session! That’s going to go down as the best pre-season session so far!’

Pre-season friendly fixtures are due to be confirmed shortly.

The season opens on Saturday 7 September with the Firsts hosting Old Haileyburians (at Trinity School).

The Seconds open their season the following weekend at home to Sutton & Epsom and then away in the league at Chobham III on Saturday 21 September.
